Brzezinski: Clinton Only Shows Up When a Red Carpet Has Been Rolled Out

December 21, 2015

Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski criticized Hillary Clinton Monday for her demanding, high-maintenance attitude when it comes to morning show appearances.

"We've got the opposite problem with Hillary, who shows up when she wants to, who shows up when she feels like it, and only when a red carpet has been rolled out, and everything has been negotiated and preplanned," she said. "And everyone can say, they don’t do that – they do."

Brzezinski said that Republican candidates like Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina show up in person for Sunday morning shows, which she said are meant to be "the anchor" of "political talk."

"You’ve got Chris Christie and all these other guys getting up at whatever time it is, Carly Fiorina, on West Coast time or wherever the debate is, and showing up on TV, and then watching all the Sunday morning shows," she said.

She said that Donald Trump usually "calls in the day after a debate," which is a problem when "all the other candidates are schlepping in," she said, using a Yiddish term that means to go reluctantly or with effort.

Co-host Joe Scarborough noted in comparison that Clinton is completely absent.

"And Hillary’s not even showing up," he said.

Mike said that Clinton only "shows up" for morning shows when she wants to, and when all her conditions are met.

"We've got the opposite problem with Hillary," she said, referring to her description of Donald Trump’s tendency to phone in.
