MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell quipped Thursday that it is a "badge of honor" for NBC to be associated with President Donald Trump.
Mitchell, who is also a foreign affairs correspondent and anchor for NBC, played two clips on her show from Trump's trip to Warsaw, Poland—one in which the president praised free speech and another in which he bashed the media.
"Well that was refreshing, President Trump in Warsaw praising free speech in his speech today," Mitchell said after the first clip. "But only a few hours earlier at a joint press conference, his first on the world stage, with Poland's president, Mr. Trump returned to form, slamming the media."
"They have been fake news for a long time," Trump said during his press conference in Poland. "They've been covering me in a very dishonest way. Do you have that also, by the way, Mr. President?" Trump asked Polish President Andrzej Duda.
"With CNN and others. I mean, NBC is equally as bad, despite the fact that I've made them a fortune with 'The Apprentice,'" Trump added.
"Badge of honor," Mitchell said in a sarcastic tone after the clip finished.
Mitchell may have meant that it is a "badge of honor" for NBC to be criticized by Trump; it is not fully clear.
