Dan Grilo, a former volunteer for Hillary Clinton's and Barack Obama's campaigns, insulted Navy SEAL widow Carryn Owens on Twitter Wednesday and was quickly fired afterwards.

During President Donald Trump's speech to the joint session of Congress Tuesday night, Trump paid tribute to Owens, whose husband Navy SEAL William "Ryan" Owens died fighting in the January Yemen raid. Carryn Owens sat in the House of Representatives Gallery next to Trump's daughter Ivanka. She clapped and cried while receiving a standing ovation when Trump recognized the sacrifice made by her and her husband, Fox News reports.

Grilo thought it was appropriate to make fun of Owens, tweeting, "Sorry, Owens' wife, you’re not helping yourself or your husband’s memory by standing there and clapping like an idiot. Trump just used you."

Donald Trump, Jr. took a screenshot of the since deleted tweet and posted it on Twitter, writing, "Hatred from the other side. I would think this is beyond what a human is capable of saying to someone, but it's not!"

Grilo had worked for Liberty Advisor Group, however, the organization released a statement dictating that Grilo would no longer be working with them after the tweet came to their attention.

"Regardless of whether the comments in the tweet were intended to cause the hurt and anger that they ultimately generated, they were unacceptable to us, and the individual who issued the tweet is no longer affiliated with Liberty," the statement from Liberty Advisor Group said.
