CNN host Don Lemon started off his show on Thursday by giving a short monologue addressing President Donald Trump's tweets about MSNBC "Morning Joe" hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough.
Trump's tweets called Brzezinski "crazy" and Scarborough "psycho," and claimed that Brzezinski was "bleeding badly from a face-lift" at Mar-a-Lago during New Year's.
As the intro to Thursday night's show began and the music started to play, Lemon looked at the camera to address the audience directly before the show officially started.
"I have to say something before we start," Lemon began. "Can we kill the music please? Kill the music."
He then berated the president for his actions on Twitter.
"What the president did today was just flat out gross and disgusting. Saying it was juvenile would be insulting to children," Lemon said as CNN displayed Trump's tweets on screen.
"If your children said or tweeted what he said, you would discipline them. Any employee would face some very serious consequences," Lemon continued. "And for any of you out there, any of you attempting to defend what he did, you're an enabler."
CNN then played a clip from White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders' Thursday press briefing, indicating that this was not an impromptu segment from Lemon.
The clip was of Sanders explaining that Trump's tweets were a defensive response to what Brzezinski and Scarborough do everyday, which is criticize and attack him.
"There's always one," Lemon said referencing the clip. "Yes, it's like living in the twilight zone. The president should be ashamed of himself, but he's not."
Lemon said that Trump is embarrassing himself, the Republican Party, the American people as a whole, and the office of the presidency.
"The office of the presidency should be respected, not only by we the people, but by the person who is in it. You get what you give," Lemon said.
He concluded by directing comments towards Republicans who support Trump and his tweets.
"How many times will you look the other way? How can you look yourselves in the mirror? How can you?" Lemon inquired. "You should know that Donald Trump does this because he can, because you allow him to. Because you won't hold him accountable."
"Mark my words: He'll do it again, he can't help himself," he said.
