What happened: President Joe Biden told reporters on Wednesday that Russian strongman Vladimir Putin was "losing the war in Iraq," just hours after making the same gaffe at a campaign fundraiser the night before.

• Russia is fighting a war in Ukraine.

Why it matters: Journalists continue to whitewash Biden's alarming cognitive decline by cleaning up his gaffes in their reports.

• The White House pool report from Tuesday evening's fundraiser, authored by Daniel Bush of the once-prominent magazine Newsweek, did not mention Biden's gaffe about Iraq, or the fact that he referred to Indian prime minister Narendra Modi as "my new best friend, the prime minister ... of China."

• The following day, Bloomberg journalist Jenny Leonard quoted Biden as saying Putin was "losing the war," omitting the crucial mistake.

• Biden has made the same gaffe on numerous occasions, and has repeatedly described himself as a U.S. senator since being sworn in as president.

What they're saying: "Time-shifting is when a person’s experience is that they are living at an earlier time in their life," the Alzheimer's Society (U.K.) writes on its website. "They may become disorientated and confused about time and place."

Context: Biden, 80, is the oldest president in American history. He is running for a second four-year term that he is statistically unlikely to survive, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis.

• The frequency with which Biden commits physical and mental gaffes should be of grave concern to all Americans. Nevertheless, the mainstream media continue to gaslight the American public, insisting this is all perfectly normal. (Fact check: It is not.)

• Democrats and their media allies have similarly colluded to whitewash the garbled nonsense routinely spouted by Sen. John Fetterman (D., Pa.), whose brain may have been permanently damaged after he suffered a near-fatal stroke in May 2022.

Bottom line: Journalists claim they are only interested in the truth and holding the powerful to account. Their behavior when Democrats hold power suggests otherwise.
