LAS VEGAS—Sen. Tim Scott (R., S.C.) on Saturday called for expelling anti-Israel lawmakers from Congress, and said he would "stand in the gap for the Jewish people" in the fight against terrorism and anti-Semitism.
"People ask, ‘Who will stand in the gap for the Jewish people?’ I say, I will stand in the gap for the Jewish people," said Scott. "I will stand alone. I will stand with two. I will stand with 100 … you shouldn’t have to stand for yourself."
The typically soft-spoken presidential candidate, who is polling at around 1.6 percent, gave the most fiery speech of his campaign at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s forum in Las Vegas. Scott denounced Israel-bashers in Congress and bellowed that "Hamas and its allies need to feel the wrath of God."
The candidate slammed Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar (Minn.), Rashida Tlaib (Mich.), and other anti-Israel lawmakers for refusing to condemn terrorism, calling the politicians "literally an extension of the propaganda machine of Hamas."
"Any member of Congress who gives one ounce of comfort or support to terrorist killers through their words, their actions, or their affiliation with groups like the DSA, should be expelled from office immediately," said Scott.
Scott also criticized President Joe Biden and Democratic leadership for not condemning anti-Israel lawmakers in their party, arguing that there is a "point where cowardice becomes complicity, and they’re way past that point."
He added that the United States should provide full support for Israel’s fight against Hamas.
"May [Hamas] meet the wrath of God by some American military hardware," he said. "Let’s win this fight."
