President Donald Trump confirmed Wednesday his CIA Director met last week with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, tweeting the summit went well and a "good relationship was formed."
Reports emerged Tuesday night that Mike Pompeo, who is Trump's nominee to be the next Secretary of State, had secretly met with Kim ahead of a planned summit between the young North Korean leader and Trump himself.
"Mike Pompeo met with Kim Jong Un in North Korea last week," Trump tweeted. "Meeting went very smoothly and a good relationship was formed. Details of Summit are being worked out now. Denuclearization will be a great thing for World, but also for North Korea!"

It's another remarkable step toward an unprecedented meeting between the heads of state of the longtime enemies.
Trump and Kim have exchanged a war of words over the past year, with Kim's country making belligerent nuclear threats against the U.S. and Trump warning "Rocket Man" that North Korea would be totally destroyed if it ever carried out an attack.
During that time, a U.S.-led effort at the United Nations has squeezed the North Korean regime with tough sanctions.
In March, Trump accepted an invitation to meet Kim, and the details and location of the meeting have not been released. Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae In are set to meet later this month, and Kim will reportedly put denuclearization on the table. Trump said Tuesday they had his "blessing" to end their long conflict.
