Secret Service Stopped Protester From Rushing Stage at Clinton Rally

August 10, 2016

A protestor was stopped by Secret Service on Wednesday when he tried to rush the stage while Hillary Clinton was speaking at a rally in Des Moines, Iowa.

The protester was presumed to be an animal rights activist.

CNN's Joe Johns reported the man was shortly taken into custody after this.

"Apparently, or at least we think, an animal rights protester tried to rush the stage," he said. "Secret Service agents, once again, rushing up to the stage, not interrupting the speech, nonetheless, standing on either side of Hillary Clinton on the stage."

He said this happened while other Secret Service agents took the person into custody. This was everything that he said he knew about the situation thus far.

"We also know that the animal rights protestors have shown up at some other Hillary Clinton events recently," he said. "I know I saw one within the last several days. So, that was sort of the side show."

CNN reported that last Thursday, animal protestors tried to disrupt and rush the stage at another Clinton even in Las Vegas, Nevada. She tried to shift the blame towards Donald Trump's family, citing that they like to hunt in their free time.

Clinton looked to use the moment Thursday as an opportunity to take a jab at Donald Trump, whose sons are avid hunters.
"You keep talking. Apparently people are here to protest Trump because Trump and his kids have killed a lot of animals," Clinton said, smiling.
