Kornacki: Trump Has 'Dream Message' for Final Week of Campaign

October 31, 2016

MSNBC host Steve Kornacki said Monday that Donald Trump has a "dream message" going into the last week of the presidential campaign after the FBI reopened its investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails.

Appearing on NBC's Today Show, Kornacki was referring to Friday's revelation that the FBI is relaunching its investigation into Clinton's use of a private email server after the agency discovered new information from a separate probe.

"How does he [Trump] play this hand? Does he have to play it more a little more carefully than he's already started to play it?" host Matt Lauer asked Kornacki.

"He has been handed the dream message for the home stretch of the campaign," Kornacki said. The renewed FBI investigation presents Trump with a strong closing argument before the Nov. 8 election as long as he stays on message, he added.

With only eight days to go until Election Day, Trump and Clinton will certainly spar on the campaign trail over Friday's announcement. Clinton's team has decided to question the motives of FBI Director James Comey's decision to publicly announce the reopening of the email investigation. Trump, meanwhile, said this weekend that Clinton participated in "willful and deliberate criminal conduct" with her use of a private email server when she secretary of state.
