MSNBC Laughs at Waters' Claim She Never Called for Trump's Impeachment

April 21, 2017

MSNBC's Hallie Jackson and Mark Murray on Friday debunked Rep. Maxine Waters' (D., Calif.) claim that she had not called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

Waters said on Tuesday that she had never called for Trump's impeachment. Murray pointed out multiple instances when Waters said she will fight until Trump is impeached.

"So Mark, she's become kind of a vocal voice for this impeachment call, and now you heard what she just said. Is she splitting hairs?" Jackson asked Murray after playing a clip of her saying she has not called for Trump's impeachment.

"More than splitting hairs, Hallie. Here's what she has actually tweeted in the past, saying that she's going to fight every day until he's impeached. Then you end up having another interview that she had where she said, 'Get ready for impeachment.' And I believe we also have some sound of her using the 'I-word' not too long ago," Murray said, before playing a clip of Waters leading an "Impeach 45" chant at a tax rally in Washington, D.C.

Jackson could be heard laughing off-screen.

"So Hallie, pretty clear that she has called for President Trump's impeachment there," Murray said, smiling.

"I think that does clarify it, Mark. Thank you," Jackson said.

The Washington Free Beacon compiled a montage of the multiple times Waters has called for Trump's impeachment.
