President-elect Donald Trump met with Alibaba executive chairman Jack Ma on Monday at Trump Tower and then answered questions from reporters on his meeting and the upcoming confirmation hearings for his Cabinet.
Trump said that he had a "great meeting" with Ma in which the two discussed ways to create one million new U.S. jobs over the next five years. Ma said he loved the U.S. and China and that he wanted to focus on creating small business jobs. Alibaba is the Chinese version of eBay, allowing third-party sellers in China to take their businesses online to the internet.
Following questions on the meeting between Trump and Ma, a reporter asked the president-elect how the confirmation process for his Cabinet is going. Trump said the process is going "great," before the reporter followed up to tell Trump that hearings have not started yet.
"I think they'll all pass," Trump said. "They're all at the highest level. Jack was even saying, I mean, they are the absolute highest level. I think they're going to do very well."
A reporter then asked Trump about his nominee for attorney general, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.), and whether he has concerns about the senator getting confirmed.
"No, I think he's going to do great. High quality man. Thank you so much," Trump said before returning to the Trump Tower elevator.
