Star Wars: The Last Jedi (New Substandard)

In the latest episode of the Substandard (subscribe, leave a review, tell your friends), we discuss the year's biggest blockbuster, Star Wars: The Last Jedi (spoilers). Its domestic weekend gross of $220 million has already edged out Justice League ($219 million over five weeks). But is it any good?

Sonny, who previously reviewed The Last Jedi, has some seriously mixed feelings about this latest installment of the series. Search your feelings, Sonny! JVL's feelings are not mixed. And I merely had questions: What happened to the code breaker with the lapel pin? So Finn and Rose did not have to travel to Macau (or whatever the name of that casino planet was)? What was the point of Benecio del Toro's cameo? How did BB-8 get inside and operate that AT-ST? Did Chewbacca just go vegan?

In addition, Sonny goes off on the fanboys. JVL questions the intent of director Rian Johnson. Sonny shares his theories on astral projection. Since when was fuel a factor? Can you really track someone through hyperspace—and if so, since when? Yoda has lightning power? And don't even get these guys started on the humor.

As such, we are left with more questions than answers. And we'll no doubt be left to ponder them until Episode IX. Or at least we'll be pondering them over the next two weeks. Speaking of which...
