CNN: Trump’s Mic Didn’t Work Properly During Debate

September 30, 2016

The Commission on Presidential Debates confirmed Donald Trump’s claim that his microphone was not working properly during Monday night’s debate, CNN reported Friday.

CNN correspondent Brian Stelter said that while Trump’s audio came up as normal on television, it was not working properly in the debate hall, which may have thrown off the Republican nominee’s performance.

Trump’s claim that he had technical issues during the debate has drawn ridicule throughout the week, with Hillary Clinton dismissing the claim as an excuse for a poor debate performance.

"This did not affect the television broadcast, but it did affect the thousand people who were in the room, [including] Trump’s family members who were sitting up front," Stelter said. "Here’s what the Debate Commission just announced in a very short and sweet statement. They say, ‘Yes, there were issues regarding Donald Trump’s audio that affected the sound level in the debate hall.’"

"So, again, not the TV broadcast, but it might have affected Trump, it might have put him a little bit off his game," Stelter said.

Stelter and host Poppy Harlow then commented how there is added pressure now on the Presidential Debate Commission to make sure that everything is working properly during the rest of the debates.

There are two debates left between Trump and Clinton as well as one between their running mates, Gov. Mike Pence (R., Ind.) and Sen. Tim Kaine (D., Va.), respectively.
