According to a poll released Thursday, New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez's (D.) approval rating has fallen to single digits among voters in his state.
Only 8 percent of New Jersey voters have a favorable opinion of Menendez, while 72 percent have an unfavorable view of him, the Stockton University survey shows.
An almost identical number, 71 percent, said that Menendez should resign following an indictment alleging that he accepted bribes in exchange for providing sensitive information to the Egyptian government.
Support for his resignation was uniform across party lines, with 78 percent of Democrats and 79 percent of Republicans supporting his resignation. Nearly 80 percent of those surveyed were either "very" or "somewhat" familiar with the charges.
Menendez has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to the charges in federal court on Monday.
Despite numerous calls for his resignation from fellow Democratic senators, Menendez has vowed not to resign. Sen. John Fetterman (D., Pa.) has called on the Senate to expel Menendez should the New Jersey senator fail to step down.
New Jersey Rep. Andy Kim (D.) announced last month that he will primary Menendez in the upcoming election.
