MSNBC: Everyday Americans Don't See What the Clintons Do for Money as a Normal Job

May 27, 2015

Tuesday evening, the Associated Press’ Stephen Braun reported that in newly released financial disclosures that Bill Clinton omitted a company that did not have any employees or assets.

WJC, LLC was set up as a shell company designed to send payments to Clinton. Federal ethics disclosure rules do not have to report assets worth less than $1,000, but the discovery of the shell company makes it hard to track the Clinton’s finances. The shell company is also starting to become a problem for presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

MSNBC’s Benjy Sarlin said that the shell company points to how the Clintons earn their money from multi-million dollar speaking fees and consulting fees. Sarlin also said it is not something that everyday Americans view as a normal job.

Sarlin also said that this is a situation that Democrats have set themselves up for from the past few election cycles.

The Democrats attacked Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) for his wealth during his 2008 run for president, and attacked when Mitt Romney ran in 2012 for his offshore bank accounts. The Democrats harped on it so much that Romney’s bank accounts made it into commercials making a point that this was not something normal Americans did.

He said that voters will be seeing similar attacks during this election cycle.
