MSNBC "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski called President Donald Trump a "narcissist" and suggested he was was "mentally ill" on Thursday, to the shock of co-host Joe Scarborough.
"I think he's such a narcissist, it's possible that he is mentally ill in a way ... He's not well. At the very least he's not well," Brzezinski said.
Brzezinski proceeded to bring up the leaked 2005 "Access Hollywood" tape that caused major controversy during the 2016 presidential campaign.
"He's so narcissistic he does not believe the rules apply to him and that's where the ignorance label may apply," she said. "This is a man who says he can grab women anywhere because he's famous. I think there's an innuendo to perhaps the other sex."
"Wow," Scarborough said.
Brzezinski's comments came the same day that former FBI Director James Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee on the investigation into Russia's influence on the presidential election.
Comey released his opening statement to the committee on Wednesday. In the transcript, the former FBI director said Trump asked him to pledge loyalty.
"We don't know if it's obstruction of justice. We don't know if it’s abuse of power. We don't know if it's utter stupidity, but he may not be able to be in that office," Brzezinksi said.
"Stop right here, I need an eject button," Scarborough said.
"Nothing I have said is crazy," Brzezinski said. "I've been watching the show while I was gone, you all said what I said!"
"Nobody has ever said what you just said," Scarborough said.
