Hollywood actress Chloe Grace Moretz revealed in a new interview that she actually shouted and cried when she learned last November that Donald Trump had won the presidential election.

Moretz was one of the speakers at the 2016 Democratic National Convention in July. Come November, she was in the middle of filming The Miseducation of Cameron Post, a film about a young woman forced to undergo gay conversion therapy

"She went to bed early on election night because she had to be up at dawn for her call time," Variety reported Tuesday. "When she woke, she looked at her phone and screamed."

"I was like, 'Oh, my gosh. I'm going to work on a gay conversion therapy movie, which Pence supports,'" Moretz recounted to Variety.

Vice President Mike Pence has never voiced support for gay conversion therapy. Pence was accused of supporting it based on an old election site that championed combatting HIV by supporting "those seeking to change their sexual behavior," but a spokesman for the vice president explained that language referred to his support for safe sexual practices.

Moretz says that she started crying after learning of the election results until director Desiree Akhavan gave a speech to the cast and crew.

"We all sat there on this tiny little movie, and she gave a speech about how in this moment, this became one of the most important movies being made right now," she said. "It was heartbreaking, but being able to use that outlet made it so therapeutic."

Moretz also revealed that a lot of her friends wanted to leave the United States entirely.

"I was like, 'No! That's not what you do as an American,'" she said.
