Liz Cheney: President Knowingly Lied on Insurance Promise to Pass Obamacare

'There is no way he could not have known the truth'

November 17, 2013

Liz Cheney (R.) said President Obama "knowingly lied" to the American people when he made his infamous insurance promise in her Fox News Sunday debut as a Wyoming Senatorial candidate.

Cheney said she believes President Obama's team calculated the media would not hold the president accountable for his false guarantee. Moreover, according to Cheney, President Obama knew he had to provide assurances to wary policyholders for his bill to pass in Congress and thus he chose to be untruthful:

CHRIS WALLACE: […] Do you believe that President Obama knowingly lied when he went around the country and promised "if you like your insurance you can keep your plan"?

LIZ CHENEY: I do. I think there is no way he could not have known the truth. There was very clearly a situation in which they were thinking you know what the media never holds us accountable, they're not going to hold us accountable here. He believes that ultimately he wants to move to a singer payer program. I think he probably figured had to say this to get it passed. There is no question that he lied and we're all paying the price for it now. And you see real turmoil, frankly, inside the Democratic party because now d|Democrats have to admit that what he said is fundamentally untrue and this has been a train wreck.
