Journeyman presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will attend a series of fundraisers in the Los Angeles area on Friday, according to the Hollywood Reporter. One such event is a $2,700-a-head gathering at the mansion of Tobey Maguire, who once played a minor role on an episode of Walker, Texas Ranger.
Maguire and his wife have contributed more than $100,000 to Democratic campaign and committees, including $6,900 to Hillary Clinton's first (failed) presidential campaign. He is also an obsessive gambler who was part of a high-stakes poker ring tied to the Russian mob.
Celebrity poker hostess Molly Bloom described Maguire as sore loser who rarely tipped. "I had to worry about my job security if he lost," Bloom wrote. On one occasion, Bloom recalled, Maguire demanded that she "earn" a one thousand dollar tip by barking "like a seal who wants a fish."
Bloom writes that she tried to laugh it off, but Tobey continued: "I’m not kidding. What’s wrong? You’re too rich now? You won’t bark for a thousand dollars? Wowwww. . . you must be really rich. . . . C’mon," he said, holding the chip above my head. "BARK." "No," I said quietly. "No?" he asked. "Tobey," I said, "I’m not going to bark like a seal. Keep your chip.’"
Hillary Clinton is vying to make history by becoming the oldest Democrat to be elected president, and has vowed to make women's empowerment a central focus of her campaign.
