Former Fox News anchor and 1989 Miss America winner Gretchen Carlson was named chairwoman of the Miss America Organization's board of directors on Monday.
Three other past winners will join Carlson on the board, the Associated Press reports.
The change comes less than two weeks after a scandal involving then-CEO Sam Haskell roiled the organization. In December, HuffPost published leaked emails that showed Haskell and others insulting the appearance, intellect, and sex lives of former Miss Americas.
Those emails have already led the organization's television production partner to cut ties, and have raised questions about the pageant's future.
The resulting uproar led to the resignation of Haskell, group president Josh Randle, board chairwoman Lynn Weidner, and another board member.
Carlson posted on Instagram that she will be serving in a volunteer capacity.

"Everyone has been stunned by the events of the last several days, and this has not been easy for anyone who loves this program," Carlson said in a statement through the Miss America Organization. "In the end, we all want a strong, relevant Miss America and we appreciate the existing board taking the steps necessary to quickly begin stabilizing the organization for the future."
