UPDATE 1:30 P.M.: This post was updated to include new comments from Barack Obama's former deputy press secretary, Eric Schultz, who said Valerie Jarrett is not moving into the Obamas' new home.

A familiar face has moved in with former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.

Valerie Jarrett, a long-time top adviser to the former president, has moved into the Obamas' new multi-million dollar home in Washington, D.C., according to the Daily Mail.

Barack Obama's former deputy press secretary, Eric Schultz, later denied the report in a tweet Thursday, writing that Jarret will not be moving in with the Obamas.

After leaving the White House, Barack and Michelle Obama moved to the Kalorama neighborhood in the nation's capital just two miles away from their former home.

Jarrett is one of Barack Obama's closest and longest serving advisers. She would often travel with the Obamas when they went on vacation and attended family dinners in the private residence of the White House. Jarrett was dubbed the "The Night Stalker" by other White House staffers because she was often seen following Obama from the West Wing to the private residence.

According to the Daily Mail, Jarrett has moved in with the Obamas so she could work closely with the former president on his post-presidency plans and travel around the world with Michelle Obama. One of those post-presidency plans is reportedly to undermine his successor, President Donald Trump.

Obama had previously promised to follow the lead of his predecessor, former President George W. Bush, and not comment on the Trump presidency. After the election, Obama said he intended to be respectful to the office of the presidency and give Trump a chance to enact his agenda.

Obama's former attorney general, Eric Holder, recently stated that Obama is ready to reenter the world of politics, however.

"It's coming. He's coming," Holder said. "And he's ready to roll."

The Trump administration has been hit by a series of leaks to news outlets about senior Trump officials having contact with Russian officials during the presidential campaign. Trump has blamed the leaks on Obama.

There were nearly 40 leaks of classified information across the federal government in 2016, more than double the number of criminal leaks reported in 2015, the Washington Free Beacon reported Wednesday. The Free Beacon has previously reported that Obama administration loyalists still in the government have launched a targeted campaign against Trump administration officials, which has included planned leaks to the media.

The New York Times reported that Obama administration officials left a trail of evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 election and communication between members of the Trump campaign and Moscow.

Obama himself has not commented on the situation since leaving office. He recently came back from vacation and announced a $65 million book deal for his memoir.
