Former Sec. of State Albright Wants to 'Register' as a Muslim to Protest Trump

January 26, 2017

Former Secretary of State Madeline Albright announced Wednesday that she wants to "register as Muslim" as a protest against President Donald Trump.

On Twitter, Albright went through her religious history before saying she was ready to change faiths.

"I was raised Catholic, became Episcopalian & found out later my family was Jewish. I stand ready to register as Muslim in #solidarity," Albright wrote.

Elizabeth McDonald on Fox Business Network pointed out, however, that Trump is not proposing a Muslim registry, as Albright appeared to be suggesting.

"Donald Trump doesn't want a Muslim registry, period," McDonald said. "There's nothing about a religious test."

"When is Madeline Albright and the rest of that side of the aisle going to get it?" McDonald continued. "He's saying no to that. He's talking about terror-prone countries."

The Obama administration had ended a program called the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System, which was put in place shortly after the September 11, 2001, terror attacks. It is possible for Trump to reinstate the program, which had individuals from countries determined to be high-risk undergo extra security screening and questioning upon entering the U.S., and for some, to check in with government offices and keep them aware of their location. The program was not based on religion, as some have said.

Albright was a major supporter of Trump's election opponent, Hillary Clinton, and served as secretary of state under President Bill Clinton.

Blossom and The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik has joined Albright and pledged to register as a Muslim out of "#solidarity."

Bialik suggested that there needs to be a registry for white males since they are mostly mass murders.
