Vice President Kamala Harris often struggles to articulate a coherent thought, but she has demonstrated a remarkable knack for vocal transformation. Here are just a few of the accents Harris has adopted since taking office in 2021: Latino fisherman, Southern jazz queen, Florida church lady, Chicago community organizer, Jewish grandmother, African farmer, and Jamaican pothead.
Most recently, Harris debuted a bizarre Eastern European accent during her friendly chat on Tuesday with former comedian Stephen Colbert. Colbert, a partisan liberal who raises money for Democrats, gave Harris another chance to answer a question she repeatedly fumbled during her friendly chat with the ladies of The View: What if anything would she do differently as president compared with Joe Biden?
Harris's response—delivered in her normal (slightly shrill and obnoxious) accent—was arguably her most baffling yet. "I'm obviously not Joe Biden," she said. "But also I think it's important to say, with, you know, 28 days to go, I'm not Donald Trump. And so when we think about the significance of what this next generation of leadership looks like, were I to be elected president, it is about, frankly, um, um, I, I, I, love the American people, and I believe in our country, I, I, I, love that it is our character and nature to be an ambitious people. You know, we, we have aspirations. We have dreams. We are, we have incredible worth ethic, and, and, and, I just believe that we can create and, and, build upon the success we've achieved in a way that we continue to grow opportunity."
