Hunter Biden's Secret Service security detail pays more than $30,000 a month in taxpayer funds to rent out a luxurious mansion in Malibu, California, next door to another mansion Biden himself rents out.
The Secret Service agents have been living in the mansion for nearly a year, sources told ABC News, which reported details of the agency's protection arrangement for the president's son.
A listing for the mansion describes it as an "enchanting Spanish-style estate" with "gorgeous ocean views." The six-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion boasts lush amenities including a gym, pool, tasting room, built-in barbecue, spa, guest house, and "castle-like tower."
Next door, Biden lives in his own luxurious ocean-front mansion that he rents for about $20,000 a month, ABC News reported.
The security detail's mansion sold for more than $4 million in 2020, according to an online real estate tracking website.
The Wall Street Journal reported last week that a federal tax investigation into Biden's foreign business dealings is gaining momentum. The investigation has reportedly focused on payments the president's son received from Ukrainian gas company Burisma. Biden was paid tens of thousands of dollars per month to serve on the board of the company while his father was vice president.
