NBC News reporter Kasie Hunt declared Wednesday that character issues for politicians would be put to rest with a female candidate in office, imploring viewers to "elect a woman, please."
In an appearance on MSNBC's Meet The Press Daily, Hunt said Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) had done a good job of cutting into former Joe Biden's message as the most electable Democrat to take on President Donald Trump.
Making a point to condemn male politicians "of all parties," the normally sober reporter and anchor became animated.
"Can I just say, character-wise, let’s elect a woman, okay?" Hunt asked. "This nonsense that's been coming from our male politicians of all parties ... I don't know, I'm tired of it! You don't want to worry about character? Elect a woman, please. Thank you."
Host Chuck Todd said he didn't see why Hunt's point about women being less susceptible to scandal wasn't a "reform message."
"I'm sure I'll be excused of being sexist in the opposite direction, but the facts are what they are," Hunt said.
Hunt tweeted out the segment as well. In addition to her Washington field reporting, Hunt serves as a fill-in host for daytime MSNBC programs and has her own Sunday night interview show, Kasie DC.

Panelist Doug Thornell, a Democratic National Committee senior adviser, said the Democrats nominated a "good woman" in 2016 with Hillary Clinton. However, her character and honesty issues with the public contributed to her defeat at Trump's hands—polls consistently showed she was not viewed as trustworthy by a majority of voters.
