Syndicated radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh on Thursday commented on a campaign to send Democratic senators "pee-proof" underwear to help them filibuster and try to stop the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Citing a Washington Free Beacon report, Limbaugh noted that THINX and Icon, the companies that sell the special underwear, sent "endurance packages" to Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D., N.Y.) to help them block Kavanaugh. Limbaugh described how the pairs of underwear hold leaks and said they are "essentially diapers."
"You can filibuster and pee and leak all day long, as long as you continue to savage and destroy Trump’s Supreme Court nominee," Limbaugh said.
He read various lines from the companies' press statements.
"THINX and Icon create underwear that champion and support bodies throughout different stages of life," according to a press release sent by Unbendable Media, a public relations firm. "From first periods to post-menopause and all the little leaks in between, THINX and Icon aim to empower their customers with sustainable solutions, all while breaking taboos around menstruation and bladder leaks."
Limbaugh also suggested sending pairs to Vermont’s Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy—whom conservatives have long called "Leaky Leahy"—as well as Rep. Adam Schiff (D., Calif.).
A statement from Icon executives made it clear the company considers Kavanaugh a threat to liberty in the United States.
"It's unclear how long SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh's Senate confirmation hearing will last, but we know that it is absolutely critical for our Senators to do everything possible to prevent the appointment of a Supreme Court Justice who would roll back women's rights and undermine women's health," said Kejal Macdonald, Icon's vice president of marketing.
