Donald Trump Jr. on Monday ripped NBC for tweeting from its official entertainment account a seeming endorsement of Oprah Winfrey for president, writing that the bias against his father as president is "so obvious they have simply given up hiding it."

NBC, which broadcast Sunday night's Golden Globes, tweeted out a gif of a smiling Winfrey with the caption, "Nothing but respect for OUR future president." The tweet, which NBC eventually deleted, was a reference to host Seth Meyers' routine where he jokingly encouraged Winfrey to run by telling her she would "never be president."

Meyers' 2011 routine at the White House Correspondents Dinner featured numerous jokes at Donald Trump's expense, which included stating that him running for president would be a "joke." Trump looked angry throughout the routine, and Meyers, an outspoken liberal, has since remarked it was his fault that Trump eventually ran and won the White House.

Trump Jr. quoted the NBC tweet and wrote, "In case anyone had any doubts about where the media stands this should take care of it. The bias against @realDonaldTrump is now so obvious they have simply given up hiding it. Can you trust anything they say at this point?"

The president's eldest son added that Americans see the truth in their job numbers and wallets.

NBC deleted the tweet on Monday, calling it a mistake.

NBC's pro-Oprah tweet drew the attention of Matt Drudge, the editor of the conservative Drudge Report. The banner of the widely read aggregation site currently links to the tweet.

Trump has a long history with NBC as the host of the popular shows The Apprentice and Celebrity Apprentice. He also has hosted Saturday Night Live, his last appearance coming in the fall of 2015 when he had recently begun his bid for the Republican nomination.

Winfrey took home the Cecil B. DeMille award at the Golden Globes and delivered a widely praised speech saying a "new day was on the horizon" for women amid a worldwide movement against sexual harassment. The billionaire media mogul is the first black woman to receive the honor.

Like Trump, Winfrey has been part of the public eye for decades. Her career as a talk show host, author, producer and actress has made her one of the most famous women in the world.

Her endorsement of Barack Obama in 2007 was seen as a key moment in his bid for the Democratic nomination and eventual White House victory.
