'Morning Joe' Mocks New York Times for Calling Rubio Fishing Boat a 'Luxury Speedboat'

June 10, 2015

The New York Times has been under heavy fire for its petty hits on Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) over the past week.

The panel on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Wednesday piled on the the Gray Lady for calling Rubio’s fishing boat a "luxury speedboat," giving the impression of a yacht docked in Miami’s waters in a recent article.

"Now that I’ve seen the boat, I’ve changed my mind," said liberal co-host Mika Brzezinski. "It’s new money. I think I saw that boat on Entourage."

"Oh my God! It’s a 240-foot yacht! Oh, wait a second, it’s a 24-foot fishing boat," host Joe Scarborough said.

The entire panel could not contain their laughter throughout the segment at the preposterous nature of the Times' claim.

"The New York Times are discrediting themselves with the story as people who have never gone fishing. I mean, to call that boat a luxury speedboat is absurd," BlazeTV anchor Amy Holmes said.

Many ridiculed the Times article as an attack on Rubio for not being rich enough.

"I think candidates’ finances are fair game," said co-host Willie Geist. "We do it to all candidates. But when you read through this, it feels a little bit like a reach."
