"The View" tore into Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a bipartisan fashion on Thursday, with one conservative host calling him an "android" and a liberal one saying he should apologize to Hillary Clinton over the data harvesting by Cambridge Analytica.
Both Facebook and the data firm that later was hired by the Donald Trump campaign have come under fire after revelations that Cambridge harvested 50 million Facebook users' data. As the Free Beacon has reported, the Barack Obama campaign in 2012 engaged in a similar practice.
Zuckerberg appeared on CNN Wednesday and apologized for the data breach, saying it was his company's responsibility to protect people's data and make sure it wouldn't happen again.
"Thanks, Mark Zuckerberg, super genuine, I feel so much better," co-host Meghan McCain said sarcastically. "It's like an android giving an interview. It's like a hologram of a person."
McCain called the story a public relations disaster that would continue to drag down Facebook's stock.
"Zuckerberg needs to apologize to Hillary Clinton," co-host Joy Behar said, adding she was going to delete her account in part because of people who make public displays of affection on the site.
McCain said Zuckerberg needed to do better in his CNN interview and should testify in front of Congress about his company's practices, unless people wanted future elections to be influenced by social media trolls.
Zuckerberg said he would be open to government regulation.
"How about regulating yourselves?" host Whoopi Goldberg asked, referring to people who use the platform.
