Pelosi: Trump Gets F-Minus on Health Care in First 100 Days

April 27, 2017

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) blasted the Trump administration's job performance as its 100th day approaches, saying Thursday that it gets an "F-minus" on health care and failing grades in other areas.

"100 days of broken promises to working people. 100 days of handouts to the wealthiest people in our country," she said.

She said she'd been asked how she would grade President Trump thus far, saying she would take it subject by subject.

"Broken promises on jobs and infrastructure: F," she said. "We haven't seen a jobs bill. We haven't seen an infrastructure bill ... Broken promises on America's health care. F-minus."

The assembled press chuckled. Pelosi said she would go into it later in her press conference why Trump's health record deserved such a grade. She would go on to rip the new GOP plan as "cruel."

Trump and congressional Republicans were forced to pull their Obamacare repeal bill, called the American Health Care Act, last month when they knew they couldn't get the votes for passage.

A new bill is getting support from the conservative House Freedom Caucus, although Trump risks losing moderate votes he may need to get passage. No Democrats are expected to support the plan.

Trump is also pushing an ambitious tax reform plan with sweeping cuts to individual and corporate rates.
