House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) said Sunday she would give Democrats a "100 percent" grade in President Trump's first 100 days for their "unity," despite the party's recent rocky unity tour, conflicts on abortion, and inability to name who their current leader is.
After Pelosi gave Trump an "F" for his first 100 days, ABC "This Week" host Jonathan Karl asked Pelosi how she would grade the Democrats to date.
"Oh my gosh. In terms of unity, 100 percent unified," she said. "That's how we were able to work with an outside mobilization channeling the energy of the American people to defeat their drastic, horrible health care bill."
Karl responded with a recent ABC poll showing two-thirds of Americans believe the Democratic Party is out of touch with the average person's concerns, a higher percentage than for Republicans or Trump.
"Isn't the Democratic Party a bit of a mess right now, too?" Karl asked.
"No it isn't," she said. "The Democratic Party is unified. I would say, my own critique of the Democrats, we have walked the walk, but we haven't talked the talk. All we do is fight for America's working families against special interests that the Republicans represent, but that does not come across."
Pelosi's remarks came one week after she conflicted with Democratic National Party Committee chair Tom Perez about whether the party is welcoming to people with pro-life views regarding abortion.
Also, Democrats can't even seem to agree who their leader is with Barack Obama out of office, with Pelosi and others putting out names ranging from Hillary Clinton to Rep Elijah Cummings (D., Md.).
The party recently came off a rocky "Unity Tour" where Perez and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) were at odds on key issues, Perez got booed by progressives, Sanders couldn't even call himself a Democrat, and Perez was panned for using constant vulgarities on the trail.
