Media Wonders if Trump Is Going to Texas 'Too Soon'

Multiple media figures questioned whether President Donald Trump's visit to flood-ravaged Texas on Tuesday came "too soon" this week following Hurricane Harvey.

"President Trump will visit the Corpus Christi area tomorrow, despite critics' concerns it's too soon for a presidential visit," NBC's Hallie Jackson said Monday.

CBS host Gayle King and MSNBC host Katy Tur brought up the issue with multiple interview subjects, wondering on Monday and Tuesday if it was appropriate for Trump to visit just yet; Tur also noted several times it could "divert resources."

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) was asked about it repeatedly during an interview Tuesday morning on CBS; he seemed uncomfortable, finally offering that Trump was "probably" going too early, adding, "Let's not get into that."

MSNBC hosts Ayman Mohyeldin and Yasmin Vossoughian wondered Tuesday on "First Look" if the visit was "too soon" or a "photo op," but field reporter Catie Beck said the Texas officials she spoke to were excited about Trump's visit.
