Conservative radio host Mark Levin eviscerated Florida Democrat Randy Perkins on his show Tuesday for exploiting his political connections to gain government contracts for cleanup efforts after natural disasters.
Perkins is running in Florida’s 18th congressional district against Republican Brian Mast, a war hero who lost both of his legs in combat.
Levin discussed Perkins on his show after the Washington Free Beacon reported last week details of how the Florida Democrat hired lobbyists to help secure government contracts for his company after Hurricane Katrina and Superstorm Sandy. The story revealed that Perkins’ company subcontracted out work to other companies that he owned a stake in, "a practice that critics would later describe as ‘double dipping.’"
Levin described the Free Beacon piece as "excellent" and read out the full story on his show while criticizing Perkins for running a smear campaign against Mast. The radio host did not hold back, describing Perkins as a "left-wing puke," "bottom feeder," and "sewer dweller."
While reading the story, Levin interjected numerous times with his thoughts on Perkins and his attacks against Mast. He described Perkins as a "leech who makes money off natural disasters through political clout that he pays for."
Before taking a commercial break, Levin became increasingly furious over Perkins’ business practices in which he made enormous sums of government money off natural disaster cleanup efforts. Levin went on to say that Perkins is now "using his money to run smear ads against Brian Mast, who lost both legs fighting for this country."
Levin gave Perkins the nickname "natural disaster ambulance chaser."
To end the segment, Levin played an ad that the National Republican Congressional Committee has been running against Perkins, portraying him as "sleaze even by Washington standards." Following the ad Levin challenged Perkins to come on the show to address the Free Beacon story and defend his attacks against Mast.
"Come on the program you coward," Levin exclaimed as he ended the segment.
