Update (11:13 a.m.): Musk said Friday morning he is not dating Cameron Diaz in an interview with CNBC.

The New York Post reported Thursday about a budding romance between two of President Barack Obama’s most famous fundraisers.

Elon Musk, the tech entrepreneur behind PayPal, SpaceX, and Tesla Motors, has been courting actress Cameron Diaz. Sources tell the Post that the billionaire is smitten with the actress and has been making frequent visits to Los Angeles to visit her.

The pair was said to have met in January when Diaz purchased a Tesla Model S. A-list celeb couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are also owners of a Tesla sedan. This past weekend the actress raved about her new ride during the Monaco F1 Grand Prix:

"It's baaaadasssss," Diaz told British GQ. "It's like a rocket ship, the way it accelerates. When I take people out in it for the first time, they all have the same reaction - 'Waaaaahhhhh!' Their legs fly up! It's so thrilling. Because it's all torque."

The duo shares more than just an affinity for sports cars, both Musk and Diaz are Obama supporters and attended big-ticket fundraisers for the president’s reelection effort.

Musk was among an elite group of moguls including Jeffrey Katzenberg and Michael Lynton, who gathered at the Los Angeles restaurant Tavern for a $35,800 per plate dinner with president in April 2011. Diaz ponied up $15,000 for an Obama Victory Fund fundraiser thrown by gal pal Gwyneth Paltrow at London’s prestigious St. Mark’s Club last fall.

The Department of Energy awarded Tesla Motors with a $465 million loan in 2010 to develop and build electric cars. The carmaker was able to repay the loan this May with revenue raised from stock offerings but continues to benefit from the $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicles.

Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX has also been on the receiving end of good fortune with $911 million in contracts from NASA.

The Iron Man protégé may be just what Diaz has been looking for since breaking things off with New York Yankees third baseman, A-Rod, almost two years ago.

Diaz, 40, told British Esquire last fall that she will not be rushing to the altar anytime soon or making plans for motherhood. Musk is a two-time divorcé with five children from his first marriage.
