The progressive news site Vice tweeted Friday its disdain that the National Rifle Association wants to put guns in the hands of women, drawing mockery online.
Vice and its network of sites are unabashedly in favor of gun control, posting recent articles entitled, "Here are all the times Marco Rubio was shut down at the CNN town hall on gun control" and "A Brit Asks an American Why Their Gun Laws Are so Awful."
"The NRA wants to put guns in the hands of: • Schoolteachers • Preachers • Anyone who goes into a nightclub • Women …just to name a few," the Vice tweet said.

It linked to an article from June 14, 2016, posted in the aftermath of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida, that left 49 dead. The article expressed disgust at the NRA and other gun-rights groups for trying to arm people to the teeth:
These gun rights voices believe, as NRA President Wayne LaPierre once said, that "the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." Bad guys, in this worldview, are omnipresent; it's pointless to try to stop them from getting the most advanced weaponry possible. The answer is to make it easier for good guys to get guns—a project that has been pursued with much gusto and success. That this might make it easier for bad guys (or good guys who turn bad) to get guns is an unfortunate side effect, but in the end, it won't matter, because the goal is to make sure everyone is prepared to engage in a shootout at all times.
And by everyone, I mean everyone. Here is a surely incomplete list of people that gun rights activists believe should be packing heat. Once all of these categories of Americans are all carrying guns on them at all times, presumably we will finally be safe:
Jews, trans people, pilots in planes, judges and legislators were also on the list of people the site can't believe guns rights activists want to be armed. The part about "women" linked to a The Trace article stating research showed a woman with a gun was more likely to have it used against her.
The tweet didn't go over well with conservatives.
WOMEN?! Oh the horror! 😂😂😂

OMG THE NRA CANNOT PUT GUNS IN THE HANDS OF…..WOMEN!!!!
Actually, my wife's gun is in her purse. And our kids' teachers have them. My church allows me to carry. And I take it to nightclubs, theaters, restaurants….
Not because the NRA says I can, but the 2A.

Yes god forbid we let women have guns. Bad enough they’re allowed to drive now
