We Will Miss You, Rumors

May 9, 2013

Pour one out, frat bros, bachelorette parties, and frat bros looking to hit on bachelorette parties.

Rumors, a pillar of D.C. decadence, filed for Chapter 11 last week, owing between $50,000 and $100,000 to seven creditors. Tragic, as the over-30-years-old establishment simply could not offer a free bar tab to their creditors and let bygones be bygones.

The Washington Business Journal reports that the popular-but-not-popular-enough-to-avoid-bankruptcy bar also filed for Chapter 11 back in 1997. So perhaps this D.C. institution will recover from the blackout faster than one of its regulars after a bender.

For now, let’s commemorate this sterling establishment with a St. Patrick Day’s photo montage set to Green Day’s "Good Riddance," which served as the soundtrack for the fifth, eighth, high school, and college graduations of many of Rumors's Millennial patrons. Circle of life.
