iPhone autocorrect struck again this holiday weekend and caused thousands of freedom loving Americans to celebrate the Old English Kingdom of Mercia instead of the United States of America.
The same thing happened last year. You see, when you write "Merica" into an iPhone*, for some reason it thinks the intent was to write "Mercia." Of course you could just spellcheck your Instagram post before putting it on the interwebs, but who has time for that when there is beer to drink.
These bachelorette party attendees with floating watermelons and doughnuts, for example, can't be expected to actually read their caption.
Not the only fail of the weekend for these bachelorettes, by the way, but this one was more American.

Of the nearly 63,000 people that have used the #Mercia hashtag, this guy might be the only one that was intentionally talking about the old kingdom, which fell in year 879 with the death of King Ceolwulf II.

WWE Divas love #Mercia.
Some of the captions would have been great, if they were celebrating the right country. Like here, both the #Captain and her #FirstMate love #Mercia.

*Androids, by the way, correct "Merica" to the far superior term "America," because they are better phones.
