Anthony Fauci finally told the truth for once. The so-called doctor, described by some as a "self-obsessed publicity whore," admitted this week that if not for the success of Operation Warp Speed, former president Donald Trump's signature initiative to streamline production of a COVID-19 vaccine, millions of people would be dead.
The controversial "scientist" made the remarks Monday during an interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, who asked about the number of people who would have died from COVID-19 had it not been for Trump's bold leadership. "I think globally it would be many more millions [of deaths]," Fauci said. "In the United States it could probably be another million [dead]."
Crucial context: President Joe Biden promised to "shut down" the coronavirus. Nevertheless, more than 715,000 Americans have died from COVID-19 on his watch, compared with roughly 400,000 deaths under Trump.
