Hunter Biden filed a lawsuit on Monday against the Internal Revenue Service after two whistleblowers came forward this summer saying the Department of Justice obstructed the agency's probe into the first son.

Two IRS agents, Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, testified in July that the Biden Justice Department hampered an investigation into Biden. Ziegler said Biden "should have been charged with a tax felony," but the Justice Department initially sought just misdemeanor charges in a plea deal that later fell apart.

Now Biden is suing the IRS, claiming it failed to protect his confidential information. Biden is demanding attorneys' fees, $1,000 per unauthorized disclosure, and all relevant documents.

The suit comes days after Biden launched another suit against a former White House aide to former president Donald Trump, alleging he was involved in the leaking of Biden's photos and emails from his electronic devices.

Biden was indicted last week on federal gun charges. He is accused of lying on a federal questionnaire about his drug use when he purchased a gun in 2018.
