MSNBC's chief legal correspondent Ari Melber will be debuting his new show, "The Beat with Ari Melber," on Monday.

Melber initially joined MSNBC as a contributor but began filling in for primetime hosts Chris Hayes, Rachel Maddow, and Lawrence O’Donnell, Variety reported.

The new MSNBC weekday show will fill the 6 p.m. slot left open by Greta Van Susteren, who left the network on June 29, less than six months after joining it.

Variety reported that Melber will also take on the role of legal analyst for NBC News and contributor for other NBCUniversal-owned outlets, including the "Today" morning show.

It has not been announced who will take over as host for Melber's live Sunday afternoon program, "The Point."
