CNN host Chris Cuomo challenged House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) on Tuesday on calls from her caucus to impeach President Trump over the probe into Russian election interference, saying there is no proof of collusion.
"But the collusion argument which a lot of Democrats state as a fact ... There is no collusion case," Cuomo said on "New Day" to Pelosi. "We haven't seen any proof. Again, I know the investigation's not over. We don't know what evidence they have or don't have, but is there some criticism for Democrats in seeming to want to force this to impeachment?"
Cuomo's remarks mirror those of Sen. Mark Warner (D., Va.) and other Democrats who have stated there is no "smoking gun" regarding collusion between Trump's campaign and Russian officials.
Pelosi pointed to Rep. Adam Schiff (D., Calif.) and Warner as examples of Democrats taking a measured approach to the investigation.
"I've said to members, the only thing that matters are the facts. The facts and the law," she said. "That's what an investigation will reveal to us. I think we have to remove all doubt as to the impact of the Russians in our election."
Pelosi has been among the Democratic voices cautioning against calls for impeachment, which has been championed by Democrats like Reps. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) and Al Green (D., Texas).
On Monday's "The View," liberal panelist Joy Behar declared there was ample evidence to impeach Trump, but Pelosi chuckled at the remark.
