House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) on Tuesday spoke at the Center for American Progress conference in Washington, where she said that Obamacare honors the commitment of the founding fathers to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
Pelosi said that it has been four months since President Donald Trump was sworn into office, adding that it has been "four months of absolutely nothing."
"Nothing in terms of jobs. Nothing in terms of the job he is doing and this is what we have to be talking about: Jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs," Pelosi said.
Pelosi then pivoted to talking about Obamacare.
"The Affordable Care Act is an honor and commitment of our founders to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. A healthier life, a liberty to pursue your happiness because not being job-locked or policy-locked because of a pre-existing condition," Pelosi said.
She went on to contrast Obamacare to the the American Health Care Act, the Republican health care plan to repeal and replace Obamacare that passed the House a couple weeks ago.
"What they have now is deadly," Pelosi said " People out there—even as recent as last night when I was at CNN, they said, 'I will die if the Affordable Care Act is repealed,' but you hear that all over."
After the passage of the American Health Care Act earlier this month in the House, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) predicted the Senate's health care legislation will pass in "a month or two."
