The Congressional Leadership Fund is out with a new video targeting Florida Democrat Randy Perkins, who is running for the House of Representatives against Army veteran and double-amputee Republican Brian Mast.
Perkins, a businessman, recently asked why military service qualifies someone for public office, leading the video to question if Perkins has the ability to serve in Congress because of his temperament after playing clips of him yelling at Mast.
The video highlights a discussion the two candidates participated in with journalists about their contest earlier this month. Perkins berated Mast during the forum over why his service in the military makes him qualified to run for Congress. When Mast began answering him, Perkins repeatedly interrupted. Mast then said that Perkins was "thin-skinned," prompting the Democrat to yell, "I’m not thin-skinned!"
Later during the discussion, Perkins appeared to take a shot at Mast for his war injuries.
"You’re not man enough to stand behind your own ads," Perkins said. "So be a man and stand behind your own ads."
Mast lost both of his legs fighting in Afghanistan.
"Randy Perkins is thin-skinned, unhinged, disrespectful, not fit for Congress," the video ends.
Perkins and Mast are running in Florida’s 18th congressional district.
