Following CNN's Tuesday night debate correspondent Nia-Malika Henderson said Hillary Clinton's policy switches will continue to dog her even though her flip-flops will help her win the Democratic primary.
"This is going to dog her, this issue of flip-flopping," Henderson said.
Clinton has been heavily scrutinized for moving to the left on a number of issues for her political benefit in the Democratic primary. Recently on the campaign trail, Clinton voiced opposition to both the Keystone XL pipeline and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement. She expressed support for both policy issues as secretary of state.
"I think its going to be to her political benefit that she has flipped to the side of where unions are, and where much of the Democratic party is, and certainly where Bernie Sanders is. I think its going to help her," Henderson said.
When Clinton was asked to explain her numerous flip-flops on issues including same-sex marriage, immigration policies, and the TPP, she said she changed her mind after receiving new information. Later in the evening, Clinton asked which of the candidates on the stage or attendees in the audience had never changed their minds once or twice before.
"She's got some work to do I think on this answer," Henderson said.
Henderson caught Clinton altering her previous position on TPP when she claimed she "hoped" it would be the gold standard. The correspondant said Clinton did not say hope, but previopusly stated the TPP would be the gold standard for all trade agreements to be compared to.
"She's doing a little fudging here in terms of what she said," Henderson said.
