CNN Panel: Clinton Cops Out on Trade, Looks Slippery

'This is something that really annoys Democratic voters about Hillary Clinton ... She tries to have it both ways'

A couple of CNN reporters mocked Hillary Clinton for refusing to deliver a clear answer on the most relevant issue of the week: the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

On Monday, Clinton was asked about whether the president should receive Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) on trade deals. Clinton, who has backed Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) over President Obama, deflected on the matter by calling it a "process issue."

Many members of the press have ridiculed that answer.

"This is actually something that really annoys a lot of Democratic voters about Hillary Clinton is that she tries to have it both ways on some of the issues, and she ends up sounding a little bit slippery by saying it’s a process issue," CNN national political reporter Maeve Reston said.

John King derided Clinton’s response on the TPA being a process issue as a "cop-out."

"If you are a school committee member or running for the city council, maybe that’s a process question," King said. "You are running to be President of the United States of America. This is a question of what do you believe your authority should be if you win the job."

King not only blasted Clinton for avoiding answering questions, but for mostly avoiding questions all together before Monday.

"She’s actually taking some questions, which is a good thing," he said.
