Alex Seitz-Wald, a blogger for the far-left ThinkProgress blog of the Center for American Progress, announced on Twitter Friday that he will be joining the staff of the far-left Salon blog.
Seitz-Wald is the second blogger to announce his departure from ThinkProgress in the space of a week. The site’s editor in chief, Faiz Shakir, announced on Wednesday that he was leaving for a position in the office of House minority leader Nancy Pelosi of California.
Other recent departures from ThinkProgress include bloggers Matthew Yglesias, Lee Fang, and Zaid Jilani.
Jilani became the subject of fierce controversy when it was revealed that he had used language associated with the anti-Semitic white supremacist movement on his Twitter feed. "Obama is still beloved by Israel-firsters and getting lots of their $$," Jilani tweeted.
The scandal over anti-Semitism on the ThinkProgress blog persisted for months, resulting in Jilani’s departure and the hiring of a prominent Democratic PR firm to help contain damage in the Jewish community. The Obama administration also distanced itself from the blog and its institution in a major Washington Post report last January.
Seitz-Wald recently declared on the Kremlin propaganda channel RT that he would be willing to give up sex for a year in exchange for the Internet.
