MSNBC's Ruhle Sarcastically Asks What Parts of Trump's Past Prepared Him for North Korea Summit

June 8, 2018

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle sarcastically asked Friday how President Donald Trump had been preparing all his life for his upcoming summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

Ruhle discussed comments Trump made this week about how he has been preparing for the meeting all of his life. Ruhle, a frequent critic of the president, used the comments as an opportunity to bring up experience's from Trump's past.

"I'd love to know, Mr. President, when was that?" Ruhle said. "When you appeared in a Playboy soft-core porn movie? Was it when you bodyslammed Vince McMahon, the head of the World Wrestling Federation, or was it when you were leaking information when you were disguising yourself as your own PR guy talking to tabloids about what a great lover you were?"

Long before Trump's political aspirations came to be, he was a cultural icon, known for his wealth and television show, "The Apprentice." He had cameos on several other television shows as well and had his own line of consumer goods.

Trump told reporters Thursday at the White House that the June 12 meeting in Singapore "isn't a question of preparation."

"I think I'm very well prepared. I don’t think I have to prepare very much," Trump said as he posed for photos with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. "This isn’t a question of preparation. It's a question of whether or not people want it to happen, and we'll know that very quickly."

"I think there's potential to make a deal," he added. "I really believe Kim Jong Un wants to do something and he wants to see something incredible for the people of North Korea."

Trump, prior to leaving for the G7 Summit Canada Friday, reiterated his point that he was adequately prepared for the summit.

"I've been preparing for this all my life," Trump told reporters.
