The Obama administration’s partial shutdown has apparently extended to online activities, including the White House Instagram account.
As of October 1st, the account displays a message conveying updates to the account will be “limited” due to the federal shutdown:
However, the White House Flickr account appears to be functioning normally with no disruptions.

However Instagram, a recent Facebook acquisition, is lead by CEO Mark Zuckerberg who has notably abstained from personal political contributions. Additionally, Zuckerberg’s pro-immigration PAC has ran ads supporting Keystone Pipeline approval and drilling in ANWR.
It is unclear if politics have played a role in the Obama administration seemingly deeming the less popular Flickr “essential” while abandoning Instagram.
