Disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner (D., N.Y.) called his past sexting scandals "quaint" compared to Donald Trump’s statements on the campaign trail.
Weiner made his comments during an interview with the New York Times Magazine published Tuesday, the Hill reported.
"I will say this: There’s no doubt that the Trump phenomenon has led a lot of people to say to me, ‘Boy, compared to inviting the Russians to come hack someone’s email, your thing seems almost quaint,’" Weiner said.
Weiner said in 2011 that his Twitter account had been hacked when pictures of a man’s penis appeared on it. He later admitted, however, that it was his penis and he was sexting with a woman who was following his account. He resigned his seat in the House of Representatives shortly afterward. When he ran for mayor of New York City two years later, it turned out that he was again sexting with a woman. Weiner has been married to Huma Abedin since 2010. Abedin is one of Hillary Clinton’s most senior aides.
In his interview with the New York Times Magazine, Weiner refused to answer whether or not he was still engaging in sexting.
Weiner was caught recently engaging in a raunchy conversation on Twitter with someone who pretended to be a young woman, according to the New York Post.
