House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) criticized Hillary Clinton during a press conference Thursday on Capitol Hill for her exclusive use of a private email server while she was secretary of state.
She was asked by reporters to comment on the FBI’s decision to not recommend that the Department of Justice press charges against Clinton, as well as FBI Director James Comey’s criticism of Clinton for her handling of classified material.
The former Speaker of the House responded by defending Comey and praising his career before discussing Clinton.
"30,000 emails. 150, 130 of them in question, that would be better if they weren’t. The secretary has said she made a mistake; she wouldn’t do it that way again," Pelosi said.
The reporters in the room pressed her for her response to Comey’s comments.
"It doesn’t bother you that he said she was extremely careless? That doesn’t bother you?" one reporter asked.
"Well, in other words, 30,000, so 130, it’s too many. There should not even be one," Pelosi said.
Pelosi and the reporter were referring to the FBI’s finding that 110 emails sent and received on Clinton’s server contained classified information.
The Hill reported Pelosi’s "rare rebuke" of Clinton earlier on Thursday, noting how Pelosi, who is a strong Clinton supporter, rarely criticizes the presumptive Democratic nominee.
